What is a young Worthington woman to do when the man of her dreams is not who she thinks he is?

This season, all eyes are on the Earl of Worthington’s spirited, beautiful sister, Lady Louisa Vivers. Many gentlemen are vying for her attention in and around the ton. Yet, Louisa longs for someone who can take her beyond the ballroom—a man who is worldly, adventurous, and passionate. She won’t settle for just any suitor. She wants her true soul mate—and she’ll know him when she sees him.

Is Gideon, the Duke of Rothwell, him? The moment he and Louisa meet, they share a powerful attraction. Rides at sunrise and waltzes at dusk follow. Finally, Gideon can no longer resist the urge to embrace her, and Louisa is sure he will ask for her hand. But Gideon believes he is in no position to marry. The Rothwell estate has gone bankrupt, a scandal simmers in its wake, and he has nothing left to offer. Now, he must decide if he will let pride stand in the way of true love—or if he will risk everything, and let the lady decide for herself…

It Started with a Kiss The Worthingtons Ella Quinn 9781420139594 Books Reviews

  • Author Ella Quin establishes a connection between her romantic couple quickly, in fact it is almost love at first sight. There is certainly a palpable feeling both Louisa and Gideon, Duke of Rothwell feel for each other when they spy one another at the park. This spark is what keeps this book engaging. The two never lose their interest in each other, it never wanes and continually grows stronger.

The tension comes not from their feelings of falling in love but from Gideon’s male pride. Louisa is portrayed as a strong person, one who likes to take charge and I liked this about her. She does not come across as a know it all nor does she manage everyone around her. She is astute and recognizes what she can and cannot control in her orbit. Gideon recognizes this about her and instead of marshalling her strengths, he tries to tamp them and this was frustrating. For some odd reason, the author does not allow Louisa to be more proactive in discovering Gideon’s secrets, Louisa did not always act like Louisa. This was the biggest flaw in this story.

However, the chemistry between the leads is superb and these two share a special affinity for each other and for their families. There are several tender moments they share and their loyalty to their clan is to be admired. I completely understood why these leads fell in love and their story, even though it lacked some tension, is still a good one,
  • This was a very enjoyable romance. I really liked both Louisa and Gideon and found their story a lot of fun. The only thing that I wish would have been different is that I thought all of Gideon's problems were resolved one after the other very quickly. No sooner would the problem be revealed, then it would shortly be resolved. That is the only reason for my giving this a four star review instead of five because I really adored both Louisa and Gideon together but the troubles a couple experience can make the story that much more interesting and keep you wanting to turn the pages to see how they overcome these obstacles. I enjoyed the connection between them and felt it from their first encounter and throughout the story. Can not wait for the next book to be released.
  • Very nice. Good character development and continuation of the overall series stories. It was not my favorite of the Worthington series, but that's just because there was less humor and new character development. Louisa and Gideon were more hardheaded and less introspective than the main characters in the previous novels, but.. that's those characters. You might like the clean, fast pace of this installment better if you prefer these characters. The series overall is a lot of fun and very enjoyable. The writing, the little details, and the loving attention to characters sets Quinn's writing apart from so many others.
  • It Started With a Kiss is the third installment of Ella Quinn’s Worthington series. This is the story of Gideon Rothwell, a newly titled duke, and Lady Louisa Vivers, the sister of the Earl of Worthington (Matt). It was love at first sight. There are a few obstacles (some of them rather significant) in the way of their happily ever after, which makes for an interesting tale. While there is a good bit of drama surrounding Gideon’s estate, there is also humor, often at times when Gideon interacts with the Worthington’s large happy family (lots of children, you know). All of the characters are strong and well developed. The story unfolds at a quick pace and comes to a satisfactory end. This is a wonderful continuation of the Worthington family series.

  • I enjoyed the story. It was well written and the characters were well defined. The author draws the reader in and allows us to experience her characters many emotions. The story had intrigue, suspense, discoveries, betrayal, violence, death, surprises, action, love, and a happily-ever-after. I have come to love all the characters in this series and am hoping the author will write Lady Charlotte Carpenter's story.
  • This time Matt's sister Louisa finds the love of her heart. His father with dementia, who has recently died, has left Gideon in financial straights. Embarrassed about his circumstances, Gideon doesn't think he can marry Louisa until he is financially sound. Louisa has a mind of her own and reveals they are betrothed before Gideon asks her. Will the secrets he keeps be the ones to tear them appart? Another Worthington winner by Ella Quinn!
How can you not like these books?!!?
  • Great author! I have read several of her books after the first one was so good and I haven't been disappointed yet. I will definitely continue to read her material. I particularly like the Worthingtons....I love when characters from other books show up.
