American Paradise The World of the Hudson River School K Avery 9780810911659 Books Reviews
- American Paradise is a scholarly tome written by the Metropolitan Museum of Art to accompany an exhibition of Hudson River School paintings. It give an in-depth analysis of the artists, Cole, Durand, Cropsey, Church, Kensett et al. If you aren't looking for a lot of information, its probably too in-depth. I really appreciate the information and wish books such as this would put ALL the illustrations in color, not just those exhibited in the show.
I highly recommend this book for those wishing to round out a collection of Hudson River School books. - Excellent reference book.
- This is the best book I know for following the development of the Hudson River School of Artists. It was the catalogue for the largest and most complete exhibition to date on the school of artists. It should be in every library's art book collection.
