"Are you the David Teves who was in my fourth grade class in Okinawa? I am Melanie, (not James Barry). I remember that You were a great story writer in the 4th grade. I liked writing stories too. We would read our stories aloud in Miss Klebe's class. Please email me melanie@melaniebarry.com. And congratulations on your being an Author of great books. I heard them first no doubt! Ha

A Matter of Time David Teves Books Reviews
- I took this book with me over Thanksgiving vacation. It was a very suspenseful book that kept you moving easily from one time period to another. I had such a hard time putting it down, that I took my day off on Monday to just read. I loved the ending, but loved more how the different people in each time period were put together. The author really has a sense of history of the California bay area and the Hayward area. I don't know if it is real since I live in Pennsylvania, but it made me want to go and investigate the history of Hayward. The people in each period of time were very human. The stories about their lives really made me want to continue since I was so involved in how they would all be at the end. I hope others will purchase this book. It was definately worth the money, and the time. Keep writing!
- As a fan of the time-travel genre in general, and as a San Francisco Bay Area native in particular, I found A Matter of Time to be a most intrigueing experience. The novel's setting is the Bay Area city of Hayward in the present, past and future. In contrast to H. G. Welles or even Stephen King's recent book, 11-22-63, David Teves' characters do not travel constantly back and forth across time between various eras. Most of them make either one one-way trip, or one round trip. These characters also do not fall into the old time-travel tedium of "don't do anything in the past that may make some significant change to the future". These time-travellers go to other eras specifically to execute changes without which the past, present and future did/will not transpire as they are destined to. Although the characters are moved to, from and/or within the various eras of time with literate facility, the reader also feels transported among the various eras along with the characters, as they move within the historically accurate and interesting descriptions of the town of Hayward(s), California and the surrounding areas (past, present -- and future?). A Matter of Time is a fun read, and an interesting and educational one as well. Thank you, David Teves. This was time happily spent.
- A Matter of Time has everything I want in a book engaging characters, at least some of whom I can relate to; interesting plot that develops in unexpected ways logical within the story; settings that expand my knowledge of time and place; and language that flows smoothly, enhancing the tone and mood. Teves creates believable, mostly appealing, characters. Even the villains seem to be motivated by an internal logic of their own. The plot twists and turns but remains true to the reality of the story. The settings show an attention to detail and deep familiarity with the history of the town of Hayward over three centuries. There is none of the careless anachronism here that sometimes makes time travel tales a pain to read. Teves's use of language is a big part of the gift of a true storyteller. For example, every character has a subtle language pattern of his/her own. The author paces the story and builds suspense through his masterful use of just the right word or phrase. This is a book to enjoy, a wonderful story hard to put down.

Melanie - since i read "a wrinkle in time" as a child, i've sought out time travel books, and this is a delightful and mysterious instant classic, by my reckoning. the plot bounces "from time to time" and there are plenty of surprises "time and again." enjoy.
- I loved this book. It was a very nice read. It was packed with adventure and action. I like the way everything just came together in the end. It also just kept you on the edge of your seat. Like I said, what a ride!!!
- I really like this book and have enjoyed reading it. It is a wonder love story that goes between four time periods. It is played out in the late 1800`s in northern California. I'm sure that almost everybody will enjoy the story.
- Very enjoyable and easy to read, made you feel like you were there.very interesting characters.I used to live in Hayward so that made it an added plus.five stars!
