• If you wanted to learn about the essence that propels Mort Sahl, or if you wanted to learn about the man who truly started the beginning of stand-up comedy, this is a wonderful, moving, honest, and emotionally gripping book. Powerful pages on how he lost his son to drug addiction. His strengths and flaws. His connection and influence of Stan Kenton, jazz artists, classic Hollywood films (which formed his ethical and moral basis for interpreting America. It goes through turbulent marriages and friendships and the highs and lows of his career. It shows a man of great conviction.
