"This is actually an incredibly substantive book on sales techniques. Over the course of my sales career, I have read dozens of sales books. Most have 1 decent idea that they pretty much cover in the 1st chapter and then spend the next 2-300 pages re-stating that 1 idea over and over again. These books are also usually filled with corporate jargon to fill pages and make them sound more legitimate.

John Ruffini's book is all substance and no filler. There are 52 solid and actionable tips written in an easy, conversational tone. You can tell that John is speaking from experience (another pet peeve of mine is sales trainers who have never actually been in sales). The result is a no BS book packed with tips that will actually make you better. Many of these are not new ideas, but as someone who has been in sales for over 20 years, you tend to forget the basics and many of these are things I will re-incorporate into my sales routine.

Although this is a book for recruiters, most of the tips apply to all sales positions (I'm in SaaS sales and the vast majority of the tips certainly translate to my field).

Another side benefit of reading this book is that it gave me insights into what recruiters do (or at least what they're supposed to be doing) which will help me the next time one calls (or I call them). A good friend gave me this book and I'm glad he did. It was a pleasant surprise and well worth my time."
